Staying awake in the night is a tough thing. The so-called 'rules' of the world force us to wake up in the morning. However, I not having college and being completely free, can afford to be nocturnal and enjoy the benefits of the night. Believe me, any work you have to do is done much faster at night. The reason being the absolute and sometimes eerie silence that gives us peace of mind. Everybody needs silence to work, (at least I do) and you easily get that in night. Talking about studies, you study more effectively in the night too. That is because you can concentrate easily and also because there aren't many disturbances. Of course this is just a generalization, and studying patterns vary from person to person.
The night is also a very good time to reflect. Believe me, whether you want it or not, your mind WILL wander of to places that you are not even aware of. The night is exactly like the sunset or sunrise, when it comes intellectually. Whenever you see a sunset or sunrise, your mind always wanders off and you start thinking about stuff like - "Why is my life so sucky? If only I could have this..." etcetera. Basically you start reflecting upon your life so far and start to see all that is wrong. Ditto with the night. You are there on your table, studying hard, trying hard to get that damn sum right, when only the word 'damn' triggers of a series of thoughts. You start thinking about how 'damned' life is, how 'damn' tough this sum is and all other things associated with the word 'damn' .
Nobody likes to get disturbed when they are working or studying by television or music, but nobody minds getting disturbed by thoughts. Because in life thoughts are the only things that just glide through without any obstacles. Everybody loves to drown in abyss of thoughts. And it is because of this quality that sunset, sunrise and night are the most preferred time of the day for relaxing.
Nights are adventurous and scary too. Just a little bit of noise can scare you off and plague the rest of your night. However, considering all those aspects I still feel that the night is the best part of the day. It is an experience and a good one too. Nights are quiet, sometimes eerie, and they trigger a lot of thoughts in you mind. Who doesn't like to get lost in a trail of thoughts only to come back after a long time......??
great topic man ... u and me seem 2 b having similar experiences .... i myself was thinking of writing about nights but i dont think i would have done it better than you. Im nocturnal too .. and the fact that i woke up at 2 o clock today (just in time for lunch!) proves that fact . I agree that nights indeed are wonderful, you can finish your Homework with 0 distractions .. you can see late night TV shows and your mom wont be there in front of you ... twisting her face and saying what a couch potato you have become ... you can as you said think about your life ( like i always think how wonderful it would have been if i had written a book at the age of 15 ... no need to study more ... i would have made money while doing a hobby! ) then sumtym i hallucinate that theres a thief outside trying to break into our house .... i know it is stupid but nights are scary that way ! keep writing stuff like this shaish, i like the way how yours are so on personal experience , while my posts normally are like articles from some satirical book ...
ReplyDeleteThanks Karan!!
ReplyDeleteI too sometimes hallucinate about a thief trying to break in.
Believe it or not, I once spent 2 hours trying to figure out what I would do when the thief would come in!!!!
Hehehehehe.......That comment reminds me of 'Home Alone' Shaish..........Very Nice topic to write about. I agree with Karan.....I think most people work better in the nights. For me too,the night is the time when I finish maximum work. It's mostly when I have to complete pending work for the Bosco Flash, prepare PPT's for school and of course, during the very obvious time of "corrections". Somehow, the mind seems to work much faster at those times.
ReplyDeleteYour frequent updating is now inspiring me to pick up where I've left off on my own blog. It's been a couple of months since I've written. Maybe I'll get down to it in a day or two.
Yeah nights do have some magic .... yesterday( i mean 2day) i dont knw why but i got this inspiration of studying chemistry .... i ended up finishing my HW, and learning all the functional grups along wid stuctural 4mula,IUPAC name and general nomenclature, homologus series and some ways to solve sums ... i ended up sleeping at 4 but i cudnt believe i actually studied even though college hasnt started !
ReplyDeleteYou're going to love your chemistry profs in Xaviers.......You've finally decided to do science na?......The Chemistry profs in the junior college, Prabhu and Adil Gyarah and two of the most loved profs in the Science Faculty at Xaviers.

Hey Shaishav!!!
ReplyDeleteNice blog man...I had to read it after Pratishtha told me about your blogs...
Even I love stayin up late at night even though I ain't a nocturnal person. But no matter how peaceful the night may be I simply love (or rather prefer) doing my chores like studying ,homework etcetera in the morn..
The peaceful breeze on your face, the sound of a bird chirping on a distant tree disturbed by the early sun..Totally blissful!!
(Surprisingly even I have hallucinated about thieves breaking in d house, what is it some kinda thing everyone passes trough in their youth )
Well now that I found your blog I'll surely be a constant reader!!!!
Keep on writing!!!!!!
Whoa!! Thanks a lot man for reading. And also convey thanks to Prathishtha for telling you.
ReplyDeleteActually, everyone loves the nights, for sure. However, studying time is very specific for everyone. Some people like to study in the morning, while some in the night. It depends from person to person.
And by the look of your comment, you seem to be a pretty good writer man! :)
